Adding Glitter to the Light Bulb Ornament
First we want to add glitter to light bulb ornament. I use Ornament Magic by Crystalac. You can also use Polycrylic or I’ve hear people use Mop and Glow (never tried it so I cannot recommend it). I like Ornament Magic because it’s safe to use and made specifically for this purpose.
So, fill your light bulb ornament with Ornament Magic or whatever you are using.
Twirl the ornament around until it’s fully coated.
Once the light bulb ornament is fully coated on the inside, turn the ornament upside down to allow the excess to drip out. This takes about a minute. You want to make sure all the excess is out. If any pools at the bottom once you turn it back over, you will get clumpy glitter in that spot. You can just hold it over a cup while it drips out.
Now, it’s time to add the glitter! Use a little funnel to get the glitter in.
Twirl the light bulb ornament and shake slightly so the glitter evenly coats it. Contine to add more glitter until it’s fully coated and you get to the point where you have glitter inside your ornament that isn’t sticking to anything.
Once you get to that point, dump out the excess glitter.
Personalizing A Teacher’s Light Ornamnet
I used my Cricut to personalize my Teacher’s Light Ornament, but any cutting machine works. What I did:
- I used the font in Design Space BFC Holiday Sparkle.
- I did not put a space into between Ms. and the last name. It looked better that way.
- Don’t forget to weld the name if you are using a script font.
- My name was a total of 2 inches wide
- Since the name is fairly small I used Washi Sheet setting to cut it out. This setting is great for intricate cuts.
Use tranfer tape to apply it to the light bulb ornament. Apply it at a slight angle so it is a little diagonal.
Finishing Touches
For the finishing touches tie a little bow and hot glue it onto the top of the ornament.
Also cut about 7 inches of 1/4 inch ribbon to use for the hanging rope.
Next print out the free Free A Teacher’s Light Printable. Cut it out by hand.
Using a hole punch, punch a hole in the top corner. Loop your ornament rope through the hole, so it’s all held together.
Finishing Touches
Now you have the perfect holiday gift for your child’s teacher.
